Physical Therapist Babatope Olusina has been Working Smart and Doing Good in Richmond, VA. Known to patients and colleagues as Tope, he sets the kind of example that brings ĢƵ’s LEGACY value of You to life, in his daily practice and well beyond it.

A board-certified orthopedic specialist, Tope recently co-authored two chapters on hip and knee rehabilitation for a three-volume textbook series now used in physical therapy programs around the world. That work carries the same belief he brings to every visit: care should be built around the whole person. He still remembers a patient recovering from a total knee replacement who, within 10 minutes of their first session, described the walking-heavy trip she had planned with her husband and challenged him to get her ready, and he customized her rehabilitation to that target and used it to push through the hard days.

“My approach is to tailor each client’s rehabilitation toward their own goals and use this to motivate them when the process becomes tough,” Tope said.

His patients feel the difference, and many return years later asking for him by name, remembering the confidence and encouragement he gave them as much as the outcomes they reached. For Tope, knowledge is meant to be passed on, and mentoring teammates across branches is simply part of leaving the profession stronger than he found it.

Congratulations, Tope. The example You set for others, in the clinic and in the classroom, raises the standard of care for patients far beyond your own.

Work Smart. Do Good.
